Error:
Last Saturday, someone called me and said the Dell OpenManage management server had an amber light in the front and it kept beeping. Today when I came to work to take a look at it, I found that it has one hard drive failed, and it was beeping loud.
Solution:
Open up the OpenManage Server Administrator of the server, go to System->Storage->PERC 4/DC, click on Information/Configuration in its Properties. Here a couple Controller Tasks can be chosen to execute. Click on Available Tasks, and choose Quiet Alarm, click on Execute to run this task. It will stop the RAID controller’s beeping.

any haelp would be appriciated
that just saved my ass, thanks
If it is a Linux server, the command line for this is:
#omconfig storage controller action=quietalarm controller=0
Thank you!
We had a disk fail last night, and replacement is on order, but damn that BEEPING was driving us nuts!
Now we don't have to "accidentally" throw the server out the window, and it can continue serving things until we receive that replacement, and then make it all nice and happy.
You saved my department's sanity! Thank you!
Thanks for the info.
Excellent fix. Thanks a lot
